I've been wearing a short wig for a couple months but now my edges are being ruined in the process. My hair is natural and I have no idea what to do with it at this point. Can you suggest something I can used while wearing a wig to get my edges back to growing? Or should I just dump the wig all together?

Is it too soon to swear off relaxers?

First Time Weaver

I just got a weave a week ago. What is the best way to care for it while I sleep? I have tried wrapping it, but its too long. Since I am new to this, I would appreciate all advice. I did consult with the person who did it and she told to either wrap or just tie it down. Just want other input.

Should I get it cut, its passed my shoulders and gets tangled on the ends.

Profectiv's No-Lye Relaxer Kit

Hi,

I was in the store today and I saw that profectiv boxed relaxer and I so wanted to try it for my next touch up. The fact that it has that neutralizing mousse in it that doesn't break the hair like regular shampooing and the shape of the box and everything just made me very curious. I use their other products (i.e. the moisturizers) and I am pleased with those so i am really thinking of trying this for my next touch up. Has anyone out there used the profectiv no-lye relaxer...

Hey guys I've been using Mizani Lye relaxer since spring and I like it and everything but can everyone tell what relaxer they like, or which one works best on their hair. I had thought about trying ORS Olive Oil Relaxer I wiil put another relaxer in the first week in Jan 07 I'll be around 11-12 wks post at that time.

My oldest daughter Hannah was sent home this morning with LICE. I absolutely cannot believe this at all. Has any other person of color experienced this? I know I haven't. I went to Wal-Mart to buy RID and I tried to hide it in the cart so no one could see. I'm freaking out yall. How could I have not known this. It's still hard for me to find anything in her head, maybe this is good.

Questions about moisturizing....

The last time I was on here was back in Feb. '06
I found the main reason my hair wasnt growing was because of the wrong moisturizer. Pink Lotion and Blue Magic just weren't cuttin' it! Now that I have the moisture thing down pact, my hair is thriving. what's the shelf life of relaxers

I was just wondering if anybody knows how to find the expiration date on relaxers. How are we supose to know if the relaxer is already outdated, or how long its been sitting around on the bss shelf? I know I have had a bad perm before probaly due to it being old as crap! But how can you tell other than smelling it before you buy it that the relaxer may be expiered. What if its the boxed relaxer, you can't smell that until you get ready to mix it up. If anybody knows how to find the expiratio...

BIG PROBLEM:

For my sis and I it's only week 6 for me and week 9 for her, and we have TONS of new growth and our hair is shedding like crazy (more than it's ever before). should we relax our hair now? for my sis probably yes, but for me, i have a lot of newgrowth but its so soon?

If you have a weave sewn in, how many times do you wash your hair?

I have decided not to wash my hair weekly but biweekly because my weaves usually look horrible by the 4th week. Plus I am tired of my co-workers talking about my different hair styles. Also I have individuals at the top and the constant washing loses the braids.

Could I get invisible braids...

Maybe you all can help me out. I am transitioning and my hair (my real hair) is past shoulders. I would like to know if it would be possible for me to get those invisible braids. They look almost like real loose hair except for about an inch at the roots that is braided in such small braids. I am curious about them and i want to try them. I am torn between that and just a regular weave. I want them to be in a long straight style maybe with bangs.

Bonded Weaves

I just got a bonded weave today. I like it so far. My hair was first french braided with a small part in the front left out. 90% of the hair is braided with the wefts glued ontop of that. About 10% of the hair at the top was just parted and glued like a regular bonded weave.

Does anyone else get bonded weaves? Do you like them? How does your stylist do yours? How much does she charge?

My stylist charged me $70.
